Dr. Robert K Franklin, LPC-S

Dr. Franklin grew up in a proud military family before making San Antonio, Texas his home. He earned a master’s degree in Educational Psychology (Counseling) from the University of Texas at San Antonio, followed by a Ph.D. from St. Mary’s University.

A licensed psychotherapist since 2001, Dr. Franklin holds multiple professional licenses and certifications, including Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, National Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Certified Case Manager, National Certified Psychiatric Technician, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Certified Employee Assistance Professional, Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), and Limited Liability Psychologist.

His broad experience includes supporting families, couples, and individuals in a range of settings: employee assistance programs, inpatient mental health, university counseling, intensive outpatient programs, and within military and government communities.

Dr. Franklin’s clinical specialties include supervision for developing counselors, mood disorders, depression and anxiety, life transitions, couples therapy, and LGBTQ+ issues. His philosophy centers on empowering clients to improve their quality of life, communicate more effectively, and build healthy relationships. He believes therapy should create a space where clients feel heard, respected, and validated, with honest, constructive feedback to help them gain new insight and move forward.

Rather than claiming to offer a quick fix, Dr. Franklin sees himself as a partner in change — a guide who helps clients set goals, make decisions, and solve problems with confidence. Today, his primary role is supervising Licensed Professional Counselor Associates and Master’s student counselors to help shape the next generation of mental health professionals.
